C.H.A.N.C.E. (creating hope, answering needs, changing everything) is a new club at Green Valley High School that is dedicated to helping others in three ways: 1) Fundraising for Charitable or Non-Profit Organizations, 2) Volunteering, and 3) Having Fun. The idea was formed by Ashley Martinez in July of 2010 during a Volunteer Work Camp at St. Thomas More. With the help of two of her best friends, Brittany Lesperance and Rebecca Ubalde, and one of her favorite teachers, Mrs. Smith, the club was formed and had its first meeting on September 24th, 2010. For the 2010-2011 school year, C.H.A.N.C.E. supported two international organizations: Unicef and The Hands and Feet Project, and two national organizations: The National Parkinsons Foundation and American Cancer Society. The purpose of chance is to encourage volunteering by organizing group volunteer events, to teach students about the many nonprofit/charity organizations out there, and to inform students about all the different ways they can help their community. It is Ashley Martinez's dream that she can one day make C.H.A.N.C.E. an official international, non-profit organization that brings people of every race, gender, and age together to love and care for the Earth and all of her inhabitants.
